Máy quay kiêm chụp ảnh Hitachi DZ-BD7HA có thể ghi được cả video độ phân giải cao trên đĩa Blu-ray và đĩa cứng 40 GB có sẵn trong máy. Ghi đĩa Blu-ray (ghi một giờ video vào đĩa Blu-ray 8cm khi ở độ phân giải 1.920 x 1.080, hai giờ khi ở chuẩn 1.440 x 1.080). Ghi bốn giờ với ổ cứng 40 GB khi ở chế độ HN 1.920 x 1.080, và 8 giờ ở chuẩn HS 1.440 x 1.080. Bằng nút bấm đơn giản, người sử dụng có thể copy đoạn băng vừa ghi từ ổ cứng sang ổ Blu-ray mà không cần phải sử dụng thiết bị rời hoặc máy tính. Máy còn hỗ trợ khả năng ghi video chuẩn vào đĩa DVD và được tích hợp cảm biến ảnh CMOS 5.3M, thấu kính HD lens, zoom quang học 10x, màn hình LCD 2,7 inch. Có khe cắm thẻ nhớ dùng lưu trữ ảnh chụp.
